Are you interested in checking out Battlefield 2042 ahead of Battlefield 6’s release? Well, that’s what a lot of players are doing if we go by recent numbers, but is it really worth it?

Battlefield Studios has promised fans they’ve learn from past mistakes, and BF6 is hitting all the right notes so far. It’ll face some stiff competition as Black Ops 7 is looking like a worthy contender. Obviously, checking out the past games in the franchise might give you a better idea of what to expect moving forward, right?

Well, here’s what I think about Battlefield 2042 and whether those interested in Battlefield 6 should try it or not.

Should I Play BF2042 Before BF6?

The answer is yes. While there may be some big glaring issues with Battlefield 2042, it is a great way to dip your toes into the chaos that you will expect when Battlefield 6 drops.

My biggest recommendation is that you get familiar with the main modes: Conquest and Breakthrough. The former is your classic all-out Battlefield warfare, with teams of 32 or 64 duking it out in massive maps to retain or regain control of areas, with the winning squad being the one who depletes the opposing side’s reinforcements first.

It’s chaotic, strategic, exhilarating. It might make you feel like you’re an insignificant part of your team until you rack up kill after kill, leading your team to a massive capture point that swings the tide of battle. The latter works in a similar fashion, but it’s even more momentum-based. One attacking team needs to take all of the zones from a defending squad. If the attackers take all of the zones, they win, but if the defenders manage to hold on even to a single area, they are the victors.

It might feel frustrating as a defender to consistently or rapidly lose zones. But the ability to clutch up by clawing up to that one remaining zone feels like few things in an FPS.

Another reason why I recommend you check out Battlefield 2042 is that it has the Road to Battlefield 6 free pass available right now. You can unlock a ton of cosmetics to enjoy at no additional cost; however, the best part is that a lot of the unlockables are for BF6, meaning you can get a head start in your cosmetic game once the next installment comes out later this year.

So there you have it. If you can get it for cheap, I highly recommend you dabble in BF2042 if you’re interested in Battlefield 6. Stick with us at Gfinityesports.com: the best site for your Battlefield needs.
